I am very happy to visit the HA Cluster Summit on 31/05/2009 and the days after this. During the event I will try to post some interesting things. If there are questions etc. please let me know so I can try to bring them to the table during the sessions.
Day 1 01-06-2009 Opening Community One with keynote of John Fowler. Sun and partners are ready for the cloud. Further presentations/interviews about Hadoop, OpenSolaris and Virtualization. Also release of an official OpenSolaris for production and enterprise. (Solaris 11) Also now available a thin and a thick hypervisor. Virtualbox and Xen on Solaris (xVM) x86 platform. This release is also the first one on Sparc architectur. xVM is also now capable to do live migration so the attack on VMware, Xentop etc. can begin. The combination of the virtual techniques and for example ZFS and the virtual networking is a rock solid solution with nice and useful features. In the evening there was a party ( 7-9) with live music of The Spazmatics. The pavilon opened at 15:00 where besides SUN also the co-sponsor has their stands.

ReplyDeleteMy impression is that the new owners has no other choice. The have already experience with OSS they use already Linux as platform to run Oracle. I will bring this question on the table when possible.
